Our weekend in the country

Tyler and I went to a friend's wedding this weekend in Georgetown. I love an outdoor ceremony! It was in the shade of the trees and there was a nice breeze that blew the entire time we were out there. Yes, it's Texas so of course it was hot, but it did help that the programs had a handle and were able to be used as fans! The wedding was out in the country and it was gorgeous! They even served us beer in a boot!

Today we got up and drove through Georgetown and made our way to a little winery called Rosemary's Vineyard and Winery in La Grange. We had a delicious wine tasting with the owner. We chose to get a glass of our favorite wine and sit at one of the little tables outside under a big tree. We lounged out there for a little while and then made our way back home.

For lunch, we both agreed that we wanted a home cooked meal so we stopped off the beaten path in Fayetteville. We decided on Joe's and it was quite scrumptious! Tyler had the chicken fried steak and I had the Ribeye with twice baked potatoes. MMMM!

Overall, we had a fun relaxing weekend out in the country! :)

Upcoming Weekend Plans

I am pretty excited about this upcoming weekend! An old friend from high school is getting married in Georgetown, TX and we have never been there. Exploring new places is always fun!

I looked around the area and there are some wineries that we might visit or we might go into Austin for the day and have lunch on Lake Austin. We have not decided yet what we are going to do, but I will definitely have a post next weekend with pictures of what we did!

So should we...

Have a relaxing afternoon at the vineyards

Or get a little crazy and keep Austin weird...

What do you think?

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Well since I showed you wedding pictures...let's talk about the honeymoon!

We went to The Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana, DR for a week. We stayed in the VIP area and it was amazing! We had a butler and there was a new bottle of wine/champagne and a late night treat every night in our room waiting for us when we got back. The beaches were incredible and the locals were so much fun! The room service was included as well as all meals and alocholic beverages. It was the most amazing, relaxing week we could ask for!

We just love beachy vacations!
We did go parasailing, a boat tour, and extensive snorkeling on top of hanging out at the resort.

Anyone planning a trip to the beach this summer?

Let's talk...Weddings!

We have a lot of great friends getting married this summer! I just love weddings and Tyler doesn't mind being my date. ;) Weddings are just so romantic, fun, and unpredictable! You never know what's going to happen or who you are going to run into.

On that note...I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures from our wedding. Tyler and I got married on September 18, 2009. We had a sunset wedding at a cozy country club and had the time of our lives! The night flew by but it was so wonderful to share with close friends and family.

For our centerpieces, we chose to do pink candy re-labeled with "love" themes and every table had something different. We put black take-out boxes at every place setting so that our guests could walk around and visit with each table and fill their boxes up with candy!

We had a sweetheart table and it was great to have a few minutes here and there to ourselves!

A country club wedding would not be complete without an exit on a golf cart!!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, it's always fun to look back at such a wonderful day!

Do you have any weddings you are going to this summer?

Living Room-Before & After

Our house really has gone through some great transformations over the past year. I was looking back at how our living room looked when we first moved in to how it looks now and wow, what a difference! The living room is so much more comfy and welcoming these days.

Before...

...After

We added paint, decor, curtains, and an entertainment center.

I like to keep the main colors neutral then add in pops of color with accessories. We will be adding crown molding this year to the living room and dining room.

Hope you enjoy before & after pictures as much as I do! :)

Dining Room-Before & After

When we first moved into our house, we had many plans for our formal dining room. At first we wanted a pool table. Then it was going to be a man cave. Then we just left it with our old living room set and whenever friends would come over and we would play games, we would hang out in there. Tyler and I finally realized we needed to do more with the room.

Here is what the room looked like before...
...And an ugly sweater Christmas party...

We finally made the decision to turn our formal dining room into ..............a.................. formal dining room. We set out to find the perfect table and we certainly did! The table we found was at Ashley Furniture. We added paint and decided we wanted to do wainscoting as well. My dad came over and helped us do the measurements, draw up a plan, and then we got the supplies. That weekend we worked for two days straight and we couldn't be happier with the finished product!

The room is still not perfect but we think it looks great for now!

Front Yard- Before & After

This weekend's project was our front yard. We decided that our landscaping up there needed an overhaul. We find ourselves consistently changing the plants out every season. And I'm not talking just changing the "color"...we are always adding/deleting everything. Luckily, my dad is a landscape guru, so he helped us pick out everything! We kept the Magnolia Tree and Pineapple Guava bushes in the smaller flower bed and the Crepe Myrtles and Azaleas in the larger area.

We had a few necessities for the new items we wanted to bring in: plants that could take in a lot of sun, last year round (so we could stop buying plants 4X a year), and were "troopers" (you know, juuust in case we forgot to water them).

Saturday morning we moved around like experts: mowed, edged, weed-eated, rake up all the old mulch, battled with ants, pulled old flowers/monkey grass stuff, bagged it all up, and took off to the (flower) nursery.

This is the smaller area with the Magnolia and Pineapple Guava bushes.

Here is the larger area next to the garage with the Crepe Myrtles and the Azaleas behind them.

Here is a view of both all cleared out and ready.

Once we got back from the nursery, we placed all the new potted plants in their designated area to get an idea of how everything was going to look.

And here is what you've been waiting for...the finished product!!

We did move the stones that were around the edges of the flower beds to the tree and are going to get more sometime soon to line all of the landscaping. We also got some new trees for the backyard and I will be doing a before & after backyard post here soon because it needs some updating as well.

Did you do any work in your yard this weekend?
